The “Poor in spirit” are those who wake up, see where they’re at in life, and understand that they are spiritually bankrupt without God in their lives. The Father sends the Holy Spirit to everyone to tell them that they are in sin and will end up in hell if they don’t ask Jesus for forgiveness. The gift of eternal life is offered and freely given to those who place their faith in Jesus Christ.
