When Deceiving A Neighbor And Then Calling It A Joke

Cookie A Day

18 Like a maniac who shoots Flaming arrows, arrows, and death, 19 So is a person who deceives his neighbor, And says, “Was I not joking?”

Proverbs 26:18-19 NASB

The word “deceives” can mean any type of lying that is done to one’s neighbor.

Deceiving people in any shape or form and then turning around, saying to them “it was only a joke”, is compared to a maniac. Why a maniac? A maniac brings great damage without thinking about what they are doing. In the same way, deceiving a neighbor will bring them grief, depending on the measure of deception used.

Nothing good will come out of it.

Any thoughts?
