Cookie a day: Run, Don’t Walk From Temptation

22 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

2 Timothy 2:22

When you are being tempted to sin against the Lord, flee. Why does it say to run rather than walk away? The longer you stay there the stronger the desire for that particular sin grows and permeates your mind. If you flee and get away as fast as possible, you don’t give it enough time to take root. After you have left the presence of temptation the desire to do it will quickly vanish. Next time you are tempted don’t think just run.

  1. Thanks for the encouraging “cookie”, SpaniardVIII.

Oftentimes, for me, because I’ve let a particular sin take root it is hard to run from it, but I know that if I continue to read God’s Word and learn to flee before I do the sin, it will get easier to run instead of walking from the temptation.
